This is a reminder that we have a club meeting this Saturday 21 May. Our last club meeting for the month will be Sunday the 29th.
The current finances of the club are adequate and we have some money in the bank. We are earning an excellent R5 interest every month. All members have paid up. I propose that from next year the committee considers increasing the annual subscription fee as there is now an improvement in the facilities and we need to build up our reserves again. The joining fee can remain at R200.
The water level at Emmarentia Dam is quite high as of Monday. See the photos below. The next step is for rubber mats to be attached to the walls inside the harbour and the jetty. Simon has picked up a 40m roll of 10cm wide strips. The cost for that is R1000. Audun will come on Saturday to discuss how to attach them.
I have been thinking of cordoning off a part of the club grounds to control the thoroughfare of the public. This is after what happened at the Centurion Club. We need something that can be set up quickly, and is sturdy. Bruce H is donating garden fencing. I was thinking of buying plastic bollards that are connected by thick rope like one would find on a sailing ship to make it look appropriate. Please consider ideas.
We should also consider an invitation to the Centurion Club for them to visit us after all the maintenance work is done and have them sail in an algae-free dam :).
